Those pants are hot!

I really love wearing black pants, and I have two pairs that I wear for work. About two weeks ago the zipper on my Coldwater Creek pants ceased. I stuck them back in my closet, knowing that I did not have the sewing ability to put in a new zipper.

Jump to today: I needed a pair of black pants to wear because I did not wash yesterday's. I go to the closet, put the pants on and grab a tube of crazy glue as I walk out the door. I chose a long black tunic to cover the zipper until I could do a quick fix using the glue. I have done such a fix before and it worked, those pants are still zipping a year after the "fix."

I get to work and, the first chance I get, I head to the restroom with the crazy glue. I open the tube; the glue is reluctant to come out. I squeeze a little harder, but nothing. I am now worried that my plan is foiled. Ok, this has to work! I squeeze the tube more.....whoosh, out comes an ounce of glue. An ounce doesn't sound like a lot, but for super glue it is. I sit there looking at the mess I have created, when my nose starts to burn. Then I see it, a little wisp of smoke. My pants are smoking!!!

At this point I am worried, thinking that my pants may burst into chemically induced flames at any time. This could be awkward trying to get back to my car..... ohhh. Then, as quickly as it happened, the wisp of smoke is gone. I touch the zipper, ouch, it is hot. I give it a second and zip my pants. Except that the glue was too much and now the zipper is really done for!

So, as the day goes on I occasionally glance down at my side, just to make sure the tunic is covering the zipper. It is, but offers little comfort. I have to break down and buy a new pair of pants. This experience gives a new meaning to "smoking, hot" pants.
